Greetings from Genesis House

November 25, 2013 by Editor

All of us connected with Genesis House send warm wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season.

Please come to our annual Christmas Open House Party on Thursday, December 12 at 1:30 p.m. It’s such a good chance to visit and catch up on what has been going on with all of you who have been so supportive of our house. There will be a great many hardy snacks, carol singing, and getting to know some of the ladies. All of them really love opening their gifts. Genesis House is at 116 College Street, Stevensville – a big white house on the northeast corner of College and Second.

We have had a good year. As usual there are women who were able to move on to a life on their own which is always cause for celebration.

Thanks to the generosity of many we’ve built a new garage – big enough to fit the van more easily. There is a breezeway so the women can get from the backdoor to the garage without going out in inclement weather. The drivers appreciate the garage door opener. Ben Longbottom was absolutely essential in making the garage possible – knowing the ways of town rules, variances, designing the basic building, and who to call about what. He also made the fire escape room upstairs in the house much more usable, including new cabinets, sink, and flooring.

The woman’s group from the Our Savior Lutheran Church raised money to allow us to purchase a dining room table long enough so that everyone fits comfortably, as well as new sturdy chairs for everyone. Carolyn from Western Montana Lighting, Roxanne from Forward Thinking and Palmer Electric are in the process of upgrading some of the lighting, with all the supplies and labor being donated.

Genesis House was awarded the HERO Award by the National Alliance on Mental Illness this fall. It is given to only one transitional home in the state. The board is so proud of the staff and our house Program Director, Donna Thompson.

We thank all of you who have helped by donating your time, treasure and talents. We thank you for making friends with the ladies, for caring and being involved in all the ways you are.

Donna Thompson, Program Director

& Board of Directors of Genesis House Inc.
