The Stevensville boys’ soccer team took the defending state champion Whitefish Bulldogs down on Saturday with a 5-2 win in Whitefish. Payden Belcourt scored at four minutes off a Chance Coleman assist. Whitefish came back to tie the match in the 25th minute when Jared Johnson scored. However that didn’t stop the ‘Jackets. Coleman took an Ian Perry pass at 50 minutes and converted it to a goal. Four minutes later, Daniel Pendergast scored when Belcourt fed him the ball. It was Belcourt and Perry teaming up at 62 minutes for another Belcourt goal. Just three minutes later, Belcourt fed the ball to Joseph Daniels for the final goal. Whitefish’s Nathan Boone scored in the 70th minute.
Stevensville took 13 shots on goal while Whitefish had 10. Stevi had four corner kicks and Whitefish had five. Daniel Brad had eight saves for Stevensville.
Hamilton lost to Loyola, 2-1, in a tough match. The two battled to the half without a score. David Feldmann hit the net at 50 minutes but after that it was Loyola all the way. Silas Hasselbrook scored at 70 minutes and again at 75 minutes. Hamilton took four shots on goal while Loyola had 18 shots. Casey Ryter had nine saves for the Broncs.
The Whitefish girls defeated Stevensville, 4-1. Carly Sebastian scored at the 30-minute mark. Evie Tiplady had two saves for Stevensville. Stevi took nine shots on goal while Whitefish doubled that with 18 shots.
Hamilton blanked Loyola, 7-0. Bri Huggans scored five of the seven goals. She had own goals at 19 minutes, 25 minutes, and 62 minutes. Sami Kratofil gave her two assists, one at 53 minutes and again at 61 minutes. Kratofil got the Broncs going with an unassisted goal at four minutes. Hamilton took 24 shots on goal while holding Loyola to only four. Taylor Goligoski had three saves for the Broncs.
