Joan Grace Rummel Kidd

August 7, 2013 by Editor

Stevensville – Joan was born on September 6, 1926 to John and Lila Rummel. She was raised in the Helena Valley during the Depression along with her three brothers.

She attended Montana State College and received her RN degree, training during WWII. While in nurse’s training at Warm Springs, she met a young electrical apprentice, Andrew “Bill” Kidd. They married October 25, 1947. They were married 62 years before Bill’s passing in 2009.

The young couple moved to Butte, Drummond, Missoula and eventually Stevensville to “farm”. Joan worked at a number of different nursing jobs but always put family before her career.

Joan was very active in her community and more active in her family. You could always find her at the grandkids’ events or helping a neighbor.

She left us peacefully at her home in Stevensville on Monday, July 29, 2013 surrounded by family. She was a grand lady and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, grandson Jacob, and her siblings and their spouses.

She is survived by her daughters, Willene (Mark) Miller and Grace (Mike) Berger; her grandkids, Alan and Kate Miller and Robert and Brittney Berger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Whitesitt Funeral Home.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Missoula for their kindness and care of our mother and allowing her to remain at home.

Memorials honoring Joan should be sent to Hospice of Missoula, 800 Kensington, Suite 204, Missoula MT 59801.

Condolences and memories may be left for the family at www.whitesittfuneralhome.com.
