Climate change disinformation troubling

July 11, 2013 by Editor

97% of scientists say manmade climate change is real.

I am not an activist and I don’t even own a soapbox but enough of this disinformation is reaching our kids and freaking them out that I must put the facts out there as we here in Montana can smell a rat from a mile away.

This 97% “Consensus” is from a paper by Peter Doran and Maggie Kendall Zimmerman written in 2009, entitled “Examining the Scientific Consensus on Climate Change.”

The study was fairly simple. It sent an invitation to 10,257 earth scientists. Of that, 3,146 responded and from that 79 were used to form this “Consensus” (76/79 more or less = 97%). The survey asked only two questions:

1. When compared with pre-1800s levels, do you think that mean global temperatures have generally risen, fallen, or remained relatively constant?

2. Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?

Think about those two questions for a minute; I don’t know about you but that’s pretty thin.

Do your homework before you speak out, just say’n.
