The Bitterroot Warriors high school rugby team are the state champions. They defeated Missoula, 37-15, to take the championship. The team, which is made up of athletes from the valley schools as well as several home school athletes, defeated Frenchtown in the quarterfinals last weekend to advance to the state tournament. While at state, they also defeated Glacier, 19-5. The Warriors had lost to both teams by quite a wide margin earlier in the season according to coach Neil Johns.
“We learned from those losses,” he said.
