Summer Youth Theater Workshop
The Stevensville Playhouse will offer a two-week Theater Workshop June 10-21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for students grades 1-12. This workshop will focus on circus skills. The cost is $100 for the instruction and participants will leave with a variety of skills and tools. These skills may be valuable to those who wish to audition for “Barnum,” the Stevensville Playhouse fall musical about the life of P.T. Barnum. Workshop skills may be used at the Renaissance Faire, Western Heritage and the Creamery Picnic Parades. Registration is limited. Recycled art show
Art City’s 15th Annual Recycled Art Show is on display through May 31. Created from discarded materials and found objects, the artwork in the show is a whimsical commentary on what would otherwise be considered junk. This work by a dozen local artists represents a thoughtful and often humorous take on our “throw-away society.” Art City is a cooperatively managed gallery featuring work by local artists. Lions Club Golf Tournament
Dust off those putters for the annual Lions Club Golf Tournament set for Saturday, June 8 at the Hamilton Golf Course. Tobacco Free Ravalli and Western MT Addiction Services Prevention present the Above the Influence Summer Camp for 6-8 graders. Scrap metal drive
“Clean Up for the Community” scrap metal drive continues through June 16 at the corner of Middle Burnt Fork Road and Park Street (entrance on Park Street) in Stevensville. Hours are Thursday and Friday, 10 to 2, and Saturday and Sunday, 10-4. The Stevensville Community Foundation will accept steel and copper wire, cast iron (clean), old farm machinery, motor blocks (oil removed), tin, aluminum, sprinkler pipe and wood-free wire fencing (tightly coiled). They cannot accept batteries, propane tanks, aerosol cans,

NVPL storytime
Kids Create Storytime will take place Wednesday, May 22 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the North Valley Public Library, 208 Main, Stevensville. Kids Create is an enriching early learning program for toddlers and preschoolers. Using a different theme each week, kids listen to entertaining library picture books, engage in fingerplays and songs and create a fun craft. At each storytime, a healthy snack is provided and there is time to play and socialize with new friends. This week, wear your favorite hat to “The Cat in the Hat” storytime. BPL Preschool Story Time

Bitterroot Quilters Guild
The Bitterroot Quilters Guild will hold its meeting on Wednesday, May 22,at 6:30 p.m. at Canyon View Church, 195 Skalkaho Road, just south of Hamilton. This month’s activity will be a short, but lively, auction of quilts, UFOs (Un-Finished Projects), fabrics, books, doo-dads, and other quilting treasures. Dam owner workshop
A Montana dam owner workshop, “Maintenance and Safety of Your Dam,” will be held Wednesday, May 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. followed by a one-hour special session for owners of dams on Forest Service land at Montana Tech, Student Union, 1300 W. Park, Butte. Properly functioning dams are valuable assets to landowners. Timely maintenance helps to avoid the frustrations of malfunction, property damage and safety issues. Here is your chance to attend an, informative workshop to learn the basics of dam maintenance and safety. Presentations by experts include: basics of dam inspections; rehabilitating outlet pipes; concrete issues; liability concerns and emergency actions in case of failure. Participants will have opportunity to ask questions and receive a notebook of resource materials. Lunch is provided.
A one-hour session follows the workshop for owners of dams on Forest Service lands to address issues specific to these dams. $10 holds your spot and will be refunded at check-in. Dog bite prevention program
Be a Tree Dog Bite Prevention Program will be presented on Wednesday, May 22 from 4 to 4:45 p.m. at the Bitterroot Public Library in Hamilton. DCPL history exhibit
The Montana Historical Society Traveling Trunk exhibit: Homesteading in Montana, will be at the Darby Community Public Library from May 22to May 29. The early 1900’s brought many to Montana with little more than a dream of owning land. Come explore this important time in history at the library. Student field trips and workshops will be held on May 22nd and 29th. Homeschoolers and the community at large are welcome to attend any of the workshop sessions. A Sound Awareness Workshop will be held Wednesday, May 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living. Local government leadership meeting
An informational meeting for people interested in running for leadership positions in local government will be held on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at the Stevensville Main Street Association office, 102 B Main Street. Ron Klaphake will facilitate the meeting and provide information regarding the requirements of town government positions: Town Council and Mayor. Registering for a position, qualifications, time requirements etc. will be highlighted and there will be an opportunity for questions. Anyone who might be interested in running for a public office is encouraged to attend.

RASS training
A state-mandated Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service training will take place on Thursday, May 23 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at 209 N. 10th Street, Suite C, Hamilton. Any community members who are not yet certified are welcome to attend and newly hired employees may take the training within 60 days of hire. There is a $15 materials fee. Future classes are scheduled for June 18, July 18 and August 20.
NVPL Tech Class
A free tech class on Email Basics will be held Thursday, May 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the North Valley Public Library, 208 Main, Stevensville. BPL Lego Club

Victor Park District
The Victor Park District will hold its next regular meeting on Thursday May 23 at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of Farmers State Bank in Victor (enter the rear door). Election of officers will be held. Museum lecture
A free lecture will be held Thursday, May 23 at 6 p.m. entitled “India, Through My Eyes” with Joann Hosko at the Ravalli County Museum, 205 Bedford, Hamilton. See India from the perspective of a family dedicated to helping others through organizations such as Compassion International, Global Fingerprints and Pathways to Children. The Stevensville Town Council will meet on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at 206 Buck. Some agenda items include second reading of weapons ordinance, discussion/decision on Twin Creeks Subdivision extension of Final Plat Approval, first reading of small animal ordinance, discussion/decision on fire department purchase of thermal imaging camera, and appointment of Brad Pollman to Planning Board, to name a few.
Marine Corps League
The Marine Corps League’s Bitterroot Valley Detachment will hold its regular meeting on Thursday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 125 N. 2nd Street, Hamilton. The Detachment meets monthly on the fourth Thursday of the month. Regular membership is open to Marines and FMF Corpsmen who have proof of honorable service.

Former Ravalli County Sheriff Jay Printz will be speaking at the next meeting of the South Valley Pachyderm Club on Friday, May 24 at 12 noon at BJ’s Restaurant, 900 N. First Street, in Hamilton. Bucs Golf Scramble
The annual Bitterroot Bucs Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, May 25 at the Whitetail Golf Course. Tee off time is 10 a.m. with a lunch at 12:30. This is a fundraiser for the Bitterroot Bucs American Legion baseball team. To enter, call Kevin Beller at 381-0939 or Duane Baney at 546-6720. Blue Star Memorial dedication
The Darby Garden Club will hold a Dedication Ceremony of the Blue Star Memorial sign at its new location at the Darby Pioneer Memorial Museum on Saturday, May 25 at 2 p.m. A Marine Corps gun salute will be part of the ceremony to honor our service men and women. Refreshments will be provided. The Blue Star became an icon in World War II and was seen on flags and banners in homes for sons and daughters away at war, as well as in churches and businesses. The 57th Annual Memorial Day Service and Dinner will be held Monday, May 27 at Florence Carlton Community Church Fellowship Hall. Come honor our military with a flag raising ceremony at 11 a.m. Dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Menu includes turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, vegetables, rolls and homemade pie. DCPL summer reading program
On Tuesday, May 28, the Darby Community Public Library will kick off its summer reading program. The community is invited to register for the summer reading program including fun events and rewards for reading this summer. The after school celebration will begin in the park with music from the Darby High School Pep band followed by children’s carnival games on the lawn until 5 p.m. For the “icing on the cake” of this celebration, local cowboy poets Buck Hafer, Verna Molenda, Ned Trowbridge, and Dusty Trails will entertain the community in the library at 6:30 p.m. Ted Heiland will provide musical accompaniment. Refreshments will be served.

A Drum Circle with Tom Kresan and friends will be held Wednesday, May 29 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Drumming allows access to the universal heartbeat that exists within and around all things.
