Summer Youth Theater Workshop
The Stevensville Playhouse will offer a two-week Theater Workshop June 10-21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for students grades 1-12. This workshop will focus on circus skills. The cost is $100 for the instruction and participants will leave with a variety of skills and tools. These skills may be valuable to those who wish to audition for “Barnum,” the Stevensville Playhouse fall musical about the life of P.T. Barnum. Workshop skills may be used at the Renaissance Faire, Western Heritage and the Creamery Picnic Parades. Registration is limited. Recycled art show
Art City’s 15th Annual Recycled Art Show is on display through May 31. Created from discarded materials and found objects, the artwork in the show is a whimsical commentary on what would otherwise be considered junk. This work by a dozen local artists represents a thoughtful and often humorous take on our “throw-away society.” Art City is a cooperatively managed gallery featuring work by local artists. Mature drivers class
The Stevensville Senior Center, located at 100 Mission Street, will host an Adult Driver Safety Class (formerly, ’55 Alive’) on Friday, May 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. This four-hour safe driving strategies class is designed for drivers age 50 and over; all drivers are welcome. The class fee is $12.00 for AARP members; $14.00 for non-members. There are no tests or exams to take and Montana mandates insurance discounts for qualified participants. Early sign-up is encouraged. Art exhibit
“The Humble Pencil” will be at River’s Mist Gallery of Fine Art in Stevensville for the month of May. Featured artists are Rich Adams, Carol Hoffnagle, Kris Prather, Michael Rees, Greg Siple, and Kyle Stevens. With works from highly detailed architectural drawings in colored pencil and beautifully intricate portraits of wildlife in graphite to whimsically imaginative drawings using both graphite and colored pencil, see the amazing art that can be created by skilled artists with just the humble pencil. The budding artist for May is Rachel Agosto. An artist’s reception will be held Friday, May 3 from 6 to 9 p.m. The show will run through May 27. Bitter Root Back Country Horsemen invite the public to their final free horsemanship clinic of the year on Saturday, May 4. Using members’ stock for demonstration, participants will learn how to navigate obstacles, solve problems that arise with their stock and perform various skills challenges. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and learn more about how to safely handle their stock while trail riding. The Ravalli County Buckle Up Montana Coalition will be sponsoring a Safe Kids Car Seat Safety Check Up Station on Saturday, May 4 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Mildenberger Motors. Charmell Owens from Buckle-Up-Montana and others will be on hand to provide free seat inspections for anyone wishing to assure their child’s safety. Area businesses are invited to attend the free Montana Superhost state-wide seminar, “Rockin’ to the Rhythm of Service.” Sponsored by the Montana Office of Tourism’s Montana Superhost Program and Flathead Valley Community College, this customer service training program is custom-designed for Montana hospitality providers. Threaded with tourism-based videos and resources, the program gives participants new perspectives, tools, and resources they can use to elevate their customer service and interpersonal skills to create effective interaction with each unique customer they serve.
Business owners, managers, and front-line staff are invited to attend “Rockin’ to the Rhythm of Service” on Tuesday, May 7 at the Townhouse Inn of Hamilton, 1113 N. First St., Hamilton from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. This free seminar is hosted by the Bitterroot Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Seminar trainer Dylan Boyle is a dynamic facilitator who will offer new ideas on key service concepts through the introduction of useful resources, facilitation of relevant activities, and prompting of thoughtful discussions. With strong connections to the Montana tourism industry, his service examples and suggestions will provide practical skills and tips which can be put to use immediately following the session.
“Rockin’ to the Rhythm of Service” will focus on what businesses need to do to attain rave reviews from customers and how to keep them as return customers.
