Stevensville – Cora M. (Allen) Cochran at the age of 98 went to join the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2013. She was born April 2, 1915 in Salysville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Arby and Betty (Salyers) Allen. Cora’s mother passed when she was an infant and she was raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan by her aunt and uncle, Ora and James Allen.Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Cochran, great-grandson, Philip Perez, her parents, aunt and uncle and many brothers and sisters. Survivors include her son, Eldon (Linda) Champion of Missoula; granddaughter, Cheri (Art) Perez of Stevensville; grandson, Skip (Cyndi) Champion of Stevensville; sister, Bessie Allen Wireman of Kentucky; great-grandchildren, Kevin (Mandi) Perez of Glendive, MT, Jason (Lisa) Perez of California, Marcus (Brenna) Perez in the Navy, Mathew, Ben and Emily Joy Perez all of Stevensville, Jeffrey Champion of Boise, ID, Jayme Champion of Stevensville and Jered Champion in the Air Force; great-great-grandchildren, Avery Lynn Perez and Jace Taylor Champion; many nieces and nephews.
Cora was educated in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she worked as a doctor’s assistant. Cora met and married Harold Cochran in California. She was a long time resident of the Bitterroot Valley. She loved the mountains of Montana. She enjoyed the special friends she made. She was active in the Florence Baptist Church. She liked traveling, gardening, homemaking and being with her family and friends. Cora had a great sense of humor and a strong spirit. Her family and friends will always remember the smiles she gave us.
Cora’s family would like to thank the staff at the Living Center in Stevensville for the wonderful care she received. Cora loved the Lord, her family and her friends. She will be missed by all that knew her and loved her.
Services will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville with Pastor Johnson of the Florence Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Riverside Cemetery in Stevensville.
