Scarecrow Festival winners announced

As usual the entries in the 7th Annual Stevensville Scarecrow Festival were outstanding. The festival featured 25 sculptures in the theme of scarecrows, crows, fall, etc. and five Living Statues.
Coordinator Gary Knapp said over 900 ballots were cast this year for the People’s Choice category. Prizes were awarded in the categories of “Peoples’ Choice,” based on the popular vote of the public, “Artistic Merit,” based on the opinion of a panel of three artists, and “Living Statues,” based on the opinion of three citizens.
This year’s winners are:
People’s Choice
First Place: Lone Rock Girl Scouts “Don’t Text and Fly”
Second Place: Sapphire Animal Hospital “Not Today”
Third Place: Discovery Care Center “Faster, Freddy, Faster !”

Lone Rock Girl Scout Cadette Troop 3756 won both the 1st place People’s Choice and an Artistic Merit Award with their entry, “Don’t Text and Fly” in the Stevensville Scarecrow Festival. The girls plan on using the prize money to help fund their individual community service projects.
