At the core of this book is what the author calls the state of presence, a living in the now that is both intensely inspirational and practical. When the pressures of future and past thinking disappear, fear and frustration also vanish, conquered by the moment. “Stillness Speaks” takes the form of 200 individual entries, organized into 10 topic clusters that range from “Beyond the Thinking Mind” to “Suffering and the End of Suffering.” The entries are concise and complete in themselves, but, read together, take on a transformative power.
Eckhart Tolle, a contemporary spiritual teacher, motivational speaker, and writer, is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition. In his writing and seminars, he conveys a simple yet profound message with the timeless and uncomplicated clarity of ancient spiritual masters. Tolle, whose work The Power of Now was acclaimed by the NYT as “the ‘right book’ for many people at this point in time,” travels extensively, taking his teachings throughout the world.
The Fellowship Club meets every second Thursday of the month and is free and open to anyone seeking to promote individual and collective well-being. Call 363-1670 or email jacostant@gmail.com for more information.

White Ribbon Week
October 12 to 19 is White Ribbon Week, a community-wide event to raise awareness about domestic violence in Ravalli County.
Show your support for ending domestic violence by wearing a white ribbon during the week. Ribbons will be available at SAFE, Safe on First Thrift Store and Chapter One Book Store starting the week of October 1. You can also request ribbons to pass out at your church, business, book club, BBQ or other gathering.
We all have an interest in ending domestic violence. Wearing a ribbon is a simple way to send a powerful message: We all deserve to live in homes that are safe and free from violence.
Some people wear a ribbon to honor lives lost, some to connect with their own experiences. Some people want to show support for victims, some want to raise the standard for how we treat one another. Some people wear a ribbon to start a conversation, and some to renew their commitment to building a healthier community. Why do you wear a white ribbon? Tell us on Facebook, find SAFEintheBitterroot.
The White Ribbon Campaign is sponsored by the Ravalli County Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, a group of community members from law enforcement, health care, religious, educational, business, and social service organizations, as well as those interested in improving the community’s response to domestic and sexual violence.
