At its meeting on February 21, the Hamilton City Council unanimously confirmed the appointment of Norman Williams as Probationary Police Officer. Police Chief Ryan Oster told the council that Williams would start on Monday, February 27 and was scheduled to attend the state police academy on April 8.
Russ Lawrence was appointed unanimously by the council to serve a four-year term on the Downtown Hamilton Business Improvement District board. Lawrence was the previous owner of Chapter One Bookstore in Hamilton and recently returned from service in the Peace Corps. Councilor Al Mitchell said that Lawrence was a great member of the downtown Hamilton business community and was “intelligent, well-spoken and well thought of.”
The council also unanimously adopted a resolution revising the city’s Wastewater Facilities Plan. The revision essentially updates the dollar values in the current wastewater treatment development plans.
The council unanimously authorized the police department to be paid overtime for providing security services at school sponsored tournaments. Councilor Mitchell said that this cost has been a part of operations in the past and the intent was to ensure the safety of the public. “It’s also good community PR,” said Mitchell.
The council also approved a new job description for Legal Secretary.
