Corvallis wins Western Montana Duals championship
The Corvallis wrestling team came out on top at the Western Montana Duals in Ronan over the weekend. The field featured 14 teams from across Western Montana and ended with a showcase match between the tough Blue Devil team and Frenchtown. Corvallis had pins from Josh Venema at 105 pounds, James DuBose at 119 pounds, Travis Davis at 140 pounds, Riley Nagel at 171 pounds, Monty Jessop at 189 pounds and James Weidow at 215 pounds. Tim Allsop won at 125 pounds with a 9-2 decision, Morly Jessop won at 145 pounds with a major decision, Wyatt Jessop took an 8-2 decision at 152, and Quincy Jessop won, 17-2, at 160 pounds.
Friday, the Blue Devils defeated Thompson Falls, 75-9. They then topped Superior, 84-6 and finished the day with a 76 to 10 win over Flathead JV. Before meeting Frenchtown on Saturday, the Blue Devils defeated Libby, 49-15 and St. Ignatius, 65-14.
Hamilton and Florence also participated in the two-day event. Hamilton defeated Deer Lodge, Superior and Florence. They lost to Glacier and Columbia Falls. Florence got the best of Noxon and Plains before meeting up with Hamilton in Round 8.
