Dear Editor,
We are making some changes at the Local Living Family Center, a new name and new hours!
We are changing our name to the North Valley Family Center, or, for short, The NOVA. We believe this better describes the families and community we serve. After much consideration and many 12-hour days, we have decided to change our hours so we are more available to the families and community members we serve. Our new hours, beginning November 1st, are Monday through Thursday, noon until 8 p.m. and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The North Valley Family Center (NOVA) is a community based family resource center that serves Ravalli County. Located in Florence, the NOVA offers child classes, parenting workshops and resource and referral services. We have a small Food Bank and Basic Needs Items shelf. We also provide leadership training and volunteer opportunities and our Center is open to scheduling your event, meeting or party. Some of our ongoing Center activities include our Toddler Play Groups, Music and Motion!, and Ready! Set! Play! for toddlers ages 2-5 every Friday from 10:30 to noon; a girls leadership program, “Girls Today Women Tomorrow” for girls 9 to 12 years old; “Welcome Baby” meetings for new and expectant parents once a month, and a Community Conversation Project starting on November 7th, from 6 to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome! Look for schedules of monthly Family Fun Activities, After School Programs, and regularly scheduled parenting workshops posting in the Star, or check-out our Facebook page “The North Valley Family-Center”.
Please don’t hesitate to call us for more information about our scheduled events and activities or if you’re interested in becoming a volunteer. Our number is: (406) 273-0142. The NOVA Family Center is located at 5501 US HWY 93 N, in Suite 3 of the Florence Business Center. You can find us adjacent to the Town Pump. Please stop in to say hello or pick up information.
