The Florence volleyball team rallied from a defeat a week ago at the hands of the Lady Broncs of Hamilton to defeat conference foes Deer Lodge and Ronan. The loss to Hamilton was the first for the Lady Falcons this season.
“We talked about how we needed to start coming together as a team and not let the little things get us down,” said senior Taylor Maricelli. “We played with our hearts tonight (against Deer Lodge).”
Florence was never threatened against Deer Lodge and put up a balanced attack at the net. Makenzie Bauck and Melody Maki combined for eight of the 11 blocks for Florence. Karli Cotton had five aces for Florence.
Courtney Byrne and her outside hitting led the Lady Falcons on Saturday against Ronan. She had 10 kills and six aces. Maricelli had 25 digs in the conference win. Florence controlled the tempo of the match from the opening serve.

Darby claimed a couple of Western C victories over the weekend. The Lady Tigers topped Alberton in three straight games after dropping the opening game. Brianna Massey had 15 kills and three blocks for Darby. Heidi Heiland added three blocks and Sydney Bergren slapped down five aces.
Darby also topped Victor after dropping the first game. Heiland had nine kills and Halie Rennaker had six aces. Victor’s Kaylee Yamaguchi had two blocks and 10 digs. Courtney Dillard added five aces.
Victor lost to Lincoln on Thursday. Desiree Charlton had four kills and five blocks in the match. Katie Brittle also had five blocks for the Lady Pirates.

Corvallis, Hamilton and Stevensville were in Butte for the Butte Central Bloctober Classic. This tournament gave the valley teams a chance to see Class A schools from across the state prior to the state tournament. Lewistown defeated Belgrade to take the championship. Lewistown defeated Stevensville in the semi finals to advance to the championship match.
