Homecoming can be a distraction with the parade, the dance, the decorations and theme days. But that wasn’t the case for the Florence Falcons. Ranked No. 10 in Class B with an overall record of 5-1 and 2-0, ruled on Saturday as they defeated Deer Lodge, 65-10. The Falcons put up 40 points in the first half alone. Zac Newbary threw for seven touchdowns, and rushed for one. He completed 19 of 27 passes for 265 yards. Dylan Reynolds had one touchdown reception and seven receptions. He also intercepted a Warden pass for a 20-yard scoring return. Riley Philips caught a 33-yard pass for the first Florence touchdown. Tanner Cobs had a 16-yard scoring run and caught two Newbary passes for scores. Derek Brown caught a Newbary pass from five years out and then picked up a Warden fumble and returned it for a score. Aaron Ward caught a Newbary pass for a 10-yard scoring run.
Stevensville topped Anaconda, 41-6. The ‘Jacket defense kept Anaconda out of the end zone until the third quarter. Tyler Gavlak scored first with a one yard run and Caleb Vance kicked the PAT. Gavlak also scored twice in the second half with a 14-yard run and a 12-yard run. Vance had a 90-yard interception that he ran back for the score. He also scored with a 25-yard keeper and he scored the final TD on a 23 yard run.
Hamilton defeated Butte Central, 29-21 in a close conference game. Tyler Murray broke open the Bronc scoring with a 98-yard reception from Josh Bauder. Murray also caught a 13-yard pass for a touchdown in the third quarter. He broke loose for a 56-yard romp and a score as well. He finished the night with 170 yards receiving and rushed for 79 yards.
Dillon defeated Corvallis, 39-7. Stuart Landis had the lone Blue Devil touchdown with a 13 yard run in the fourth quarter. Darby fell to Arlee, 49-32. Colton Johnston had a 60-yard reception from Jeremy Campbell for the first Darby touchdown. Campbell hit Dylan Knox from 59 yards out and then again in the fourth quarter from 38 yards out. Campbell also had two rushing touchdowns on runs of two yards and one yard each.
Victor fell to Drummond, 48-16. Nate Bishop caught a 36-yard pass from Kurt Manely and Corey Deering scored the two-point conversion. Deering had a 12-yard reception for the second Pirate touchdown.
