High school golf tees off

The Hamilton boys’ golf team began their quest for another state title last week at the Missoula Invitational held at Larchmont Golf Course. The Broncs went up against 10 Class AA and Class A teams. The Broncs easily outdistanced the field the first day with a five-stroke lead. Kalispell Glacier was on fire for the second day and took the two-day event with a total score of 611 compared to Hamilton’s 617.

Tyler Jessop and Eli Rogers tied for fourth and fifth overall. Jessop was consistent and shot a 75 each day. Rogers shot a 73 on the first day and 77 the second. Brad Palin also finished in the top 10 with a 52.

The Broncs opened their season with a win at the Anaconda Tournament a week ago.

Bitterroot Classic Triathlon this Saturday

Saturday, August 27 is the day for the sixth annual Bitterroot Classic Triathlon at the Bitterroot Aquatic Center. The race is a fast, fun and an exciting family event held to benefit the Missoula Ronald McDonald House. Over the past five years, the Bitterroot Classic Triathlon has raised over $65,000 in support of Missoula’s Ronald McDonald House. You can join the fun by sponsoring, volunteering, racing and/or applauding your friends as they race this fun and worthwhile event to raise funds for this special place. The Bitterroot Classic Triathlon is a sprint distance race, 750yd Swim (15 laps in Bitterroot Aquatic Center pool), 20k Bike, 5k Run (followed by the Junior and Kiddo triathlons). The swim takes place in the Bitterroot Aquatic Center pool, the bike portion gives racers the opportunity to take in the great views of the Bitterroot and Sapphire mountains while racing with the cows through some of the most beautiful private property in Ravalli County. The race concludes with a double loop around the Hamilton High School. Each sprint racer has an opportunity to win a beautiful bike donated by Red Barn Bicycles just by wearing the Ronald McDonald red bracelet or by having something red tied to their shoes when crossing the finish line. The Bitterroot Classic Triathlon has something for everybody!

Get Ready, Bitterroot Classic Triathlon Racers and remember, all racers, no matter how old or what heat you are racing in, you must wear a bike helmet and sign a consent form.

Ride the bike course – Monday, August 22nd from 4pm to 8pm all racers are welcome to ride the beautiful Bitterroot Classic bike course.

Racer’s early packet pick up – Friday, August 26th from 4pm to 7pm at the Bitterroot Aquatic Center.

Race Day, Saturday August 27th, Bitterroot Aquatic Center – Racers packet pick up will open at 6:30am, Mandatory Racers meeting is at 7am and the Bitterroot Classic Triathlon will begin promptly at 7:30am.

NEW!! Bitterroot Classic Junior and Kiddo Triathlons – immediately following the Elite Racers.  The Junior Triathlon is limited to 12 racers. The Junior Triathlon has a no assistance criteria.  Each racer must be able to independently swim 75 yards, bike 1 mile and run ¼ mile. The Kiddo Triathlon will have three heats and all are welcome. Junior and Kiddo Triathlons are free and sign up is at the Racers/Volunteer Tent.

Corbin to compete at Triathlon

Linsey Corbin will be competing in the Bitterroot Classic Triathlon this Saturday in Hamilton. Corbin is a world-class triathlete who has competed in nine Ironman Triathlons. According to her website, she always finishes her races in a cowboy hat and has consistently placed in the top 10 in 92 percent of the races she has entered. She currently lives in Missoula and is originally from Bend, Oregon.
