The Blue Devil track team served notice they will be a force to reckon with this weekend at the Class A State Track Meet in Missoula. The Blue Devils won both the girls and boys team scoring and brought home several first place ribbons. The Corvallis girls won 11 of 17 events and the boys won eight of 17 events.
Paige Squire continued to dominate in the hurdles, easily outdistancing everyone in the field and setting the mark to beat in the state. She also holds the top time in the 200 going into the state meet. Freshman Ayden Eickhoff won the 8800 and the 1,600 races. She currently holds the top time in both of those races in Class A. Another freshman, Sadi Henderson, won the 400 and anchored the 4x 400-relay team, which set a meet mark, and the 4×100 relay team. Lakyn Connors won the triple jump. Aspen Evans cleared 10 feet six inches to win the pole vault. Kaycie Stewart was the final Corvallis girl to win, taking the 3,200-meter race with a meet record of 12:12.74.
Hamilton’s Kelsi Almond edged Henderson out in the 100-meter spring. Almond also won the long jump. Meghan Kratofil won the discus. Molly Brewer of Stevensville won the high jump.
The Corvallis boys were led by a pair of distance runners. Colby Henderson took the middle distance, the 400 and the 800. Chris Jessop stepped in and won the 1,600 and the 3,200. Jessop owns the top Class A mark in the 3,200 while Henderson actually has the top mark in the 1,600. Logan Connors led the field in the javelin with a throw of 184-10. Jimmy Henderson lobbed the discus 151-7. Luke Walden won the high jump at six feet.
Stevensville had a pair of double winners. Josh Haynes won both the long jump and the triple jump. Josh Lords won the 100 and the 200.
