Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot

Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot will meet Tuesday, January 8 at BJ’s Restaurant in Hamilton. Social hour is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. with the presentation starting at 7 p.m. Cocktails and dinner are optional. The presentation is “Fishing Christmas Island” is by member Greg Chester. Greg is well known in the community for his excellent fly tying. He started fly fishing in 1974 in Southern California for warm water species. After numerous trips to the Sierras, trout fishing soon became a favorite. Greg is a charter member of the FFB and has served as President of the Bitterroot Chapter of Trout Unlimited for the past three years. Greg will show members why Christmas Island is considered one of the top salt water flats fishing destinations in the world. The atoll surrounds a pristine lagoon with stunning beaches, extensive bird life and a friendly Micronesian culture. Within the lagoon are bone fish and a variety of trevally species. Outside the lagoon there is outstanding Yellowfin Tuna and Wahoo fishing opportunities. Seeing this slide show is the next best thing to being there!
