Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) seeks public review of its proposal to accept the donation of approximately 7 acres of private land along the Bitterroot River at Stevensville Bridge in Ravalli County, for the purpose of providing public access to the Bitterroot River and to develop a fishing access site (FAS). Proposed developments include: designated parking area, gravel access road, primitive camping area, concrete vault latrine, boundary and internal fencing, bicycle/pedestrian trail connection, and informational signs. The existing area where boaters have traditionally launched will continue to serve as the designated launch. In addition to improving recreational opportunities along the Bitterroot River, development of the site would provide an opportunity to improve the riparian vegetation on the site by revegetating portions of the streambank denuded by past heavy recreational use.
A draft environmental assessment (EA) for this proposal is available for review and comment. The EA may be obtained by mail from Region 2 FWP, 3201 Spurgin Rd., Missoula 59804; phoning 406-542-5500; emailing email@example.com; or viewing FWP’s Internet website http://fwp.mt.gov (“News,” then “Public Notices”; beginning June 6). Comments may be made online on the EA webpage or may be directed by mail to the address above or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Comments must be received by FWP no later than July 5, 2018.
