Former Stevensville Police Officer and Stevensville School Resource Officer Samuel Fawcett was arrested last week on charges of incest. Police Chief James Marble placed Fawcett on administrative leave last April 10th pending the outcome of an investigation being conducted by the Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office into criminal charges “unrelated to his duties as School Resource Officer,” according to investigating officials. Fawcett subsequently resigned from the police force effective June 3rd.
According to Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton, a warrant was issued for Fawcett’s arrest and he was picked up by Highway Patrol Officers on June 20 and booked into the Ravalli County Detention Center. Detention documents show that he was booked at about 1 p.m. on a felony charge of incest and released on $50,000 bond about half an hour later. A court appearance has been scheduled for July 19.
It was reported on ABC Fox News Montana on June 21 that, “Court documents say the accusations came to light when the young girl was inappropriately touched by a classmate at her Missoula County school. She told adults about the incident and revealed that she had been touched inappropriately before. The girl was interviewed at First Step Resource Center in Missoula.”
