Voters in school districts that are having trustee or levy elections have until May 2 to return their ballots by mail, or in person, to the Election Department at the Courthouse in Hamilton. This is also true for special elections for Florence Rural Fire District – Rebecca Ames or Robert D. DeWitt (vote for one); Three Mile Rural Fire District – Gordon P. Blietz Sr., Travis Capp, or Faron D. Stevens (vote for two); and Ward Irrigation District – Terry K. Kirkbride or Cody W. Lee (vote for one).
Corvallis School District will elect three trustees for three three-year terms. Those running are Becky Anderson, Ginny Hoffman, Michael Hoyt and Dan Wolsky. Florence will elect two trustees, for two three-year terms. On the Florence ballot are Kourtney J. Zeiler and Tara M. Zeiler. There are five candidates running for two three-year terms in Hamilton. They are Jesse Casterson, Tim Greek, Elke Olbricht, Jeni Seifert, and Jim Shea.
Victor is running a levy to support the general fund by $196,000 for the purpose of maintaining current programming. This is approximately 29.99 mills. Passage of this proposal will increase the taxes on a home with a market value of $100,000 by approximately $40.49 and on a home with a market value of $200,00 by approximately $80.98. The duration of the levy is permanent once approved by the voters, assuming the district levies that amount at least once in the next five years.
Ballots for all of these elections were mailed out on April 17, 2017.
The election to fill the Congressional seat left vacant by Ryan Zinke’s appointment as Secretary of the Interior will be held on May 25, 2017. Voter registration for that election closes on April 25, 2017. Hamilton School District will hold a special bond and levy election at that time.
