The Bitterroot Art Guild will have their annual Christmas Show this Friday and Saturday at the 1st Interstate Building at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds. The event is free although they encourage everyone to make a donation to of non-perishable food for the Darby Bread Box. The hours are 10am to 5pm on Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturday. The show features unique crafts, one of a kind art, and jewelry. There will be something for everyone there.
The group has 28 active members located throughout the valley. They are as diverse as the arts and crafts they create. From fine art to quilts to stonework, these individuals make, remake, paint, or tool fancy gifts for that hard to please person.
The Guild’s other big event is in the summer when they put on Art in the Park. This was actually their first endeavor and then the Christmas show came later. These shows are juried shows to ensure there are not too many booths of any one medium or genre. The proceeds from the shows mainly go to scholarships for seniors wanting to go into art. The winners are chosen based upon their resume and their artwork.
The organization also completed the construction on the inside of the old art building at the fairgrounds. They built a bathroom, insulated and put in heating so there would be a place to have events in the colder months. Although they don’t have regular meetings, the group welcomes new members. Just stop in this weekend and see what they have to offer and maybe you’ll want to join too.
