WECAN – New approach to finding a job

Dear Editor,

Are you looking for work? Many people are. Do you enjoy looking for work? Few people do. WECAN can change all of that. On December 6th from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Rural Employment Opportunities and Montana’s credit unions will be hosting a kick-off event in Hamilton for Workers Employed through Community Asset Networks (WECAN). The event, being held at Bitterroot Job Service at 274 Old Corvallis Road, will describe the WECAN job networks model and all that it has to offer Montanans.

WECAN is a new approach to finding jobs and learning about money management in rural areas. Focused on people, and the skills that they have, WECAN meetings are places for community members to share stories, ease fears, and encourage each other during the job search process. The meetings are venues to gather and share information with both job seekers and local service providers. When community members come together monthly to discuss jobs, the conversation does not have to end there. WECAN is about more than jobs; it is about people, the dreams that they have, and the important realization that sometimes we all need a helping hand. Whether you are interested in finding a job, learning to make a budget, or acting as a mentor for someone in your community, WECAN events are great places to start.

Come to the WECAN kick-off event to enjoy free food and receive information from Rural Employment Opportunities and Ravalli County Federal Credit Union. Most important, come to make connections with other community members; meeting them just might find you your next job.
